Heath
Williams
Born: August 6, 1973 Kinder, Louisiana
Married: to Jill with a son named, Matthew Dean
Musical Influences: Merle Haggard, George Jones, Roy
Nichols, Don Rich, Redd Volkaert In my family,
music was passed down from generation to generation. You can say that I'm a
4th-generation guitar player. I can't tell you exactly when I started
playing the guitar, but I can remember sitting and watching my older brother
Shane as my
dad taught him. I think I started about 15 or that was when I started taking
it serious. Through the years I learned music from many different people.
There are two that stand out vividly in my mind. The first is my dad (Derryl
Williams) and the second is Gary Townson, who is a great friend and guitar
player. I attribute all my musical knowledge to these two men. I love them
both!
During a jam session which included Gary Townson, Lewis Williams, Charles
Wayne Morrow and myself, I was introduced to Herbert Reed. He instantly
became a good friend and was also instrumental in making me a part of the
Bayou Katz. Although their music was more swamp pop and I was more old
traditional country, the combination fit seamlessly.
With my guitar and the love and support of my wife,
Jill, I am living a dream. I can only hope that I make the people that
influenced my music proud. |
